First designer diary peaked my interest

Initial impression: very favourable; this is a gorgeous game and the production value is top-notch. (I especially like the wooden secret tome tokens.) Played three times with a PnP version (my first and only attempt at PnPing something); the biggest change I noticed in the year's development is a huge improvement in the Campaign system - much easier to play, now. I've played the physical copy once now, solo-ing the playthrough and completing the 1st chronicle. I can see the potential here - with the right group. But it's not an easy teach, and there are a lot of rules, and I wonder whether I'll ever be able to enjoy the game in that way. I can also see some players -hating- the d6 roll for the Chancellor to win.

I should not have bought this game. Not at all for me, my game group, or my typical preferences. Oops... No bad ratings, this game design is genius and the components are some of the best in any board game production, just never going to play this.
